Toronto <\/strong>\u2013 Five civilians are reportedly killed in Meskan<\/a> district of Guraghe zone in Central Ethiopia. Four of the victims were members of the same family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Gogot party, ethnic Guraghe opposition party, reported that the incident took place in Enseno town on Tuesday this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the party, the incident took place around 3 a.m. on the night of Tuesday. All the victims of what the party described as horrifying killings were civilians. <\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n The statement has identified the victims by name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Zemzem Temesgen, 46, mother was killed along with three of her children. Her daughters Leila Mubaret (19) and Firdos Mubarek (5), her son Fuad Mubarek (3) were killed in the attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The other victim is a five years old girl who is a neighbor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The party did not name perpetrators of the attack. However, it pointed finger towards the government. It said the \u201cattack on Guraghe people is planned and supported by structure [ seemingly government structure].\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n It called on the government to end recurring killings. The government has not remarked on the recent killing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Expressing condolences to the families of the victims and Guraghe people, Gogot party also called on national and international Human Rights Organizations to put pressure to end recurring attacks on civilians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n At the time of this writing, Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations have not disclosed if they are conducting an investigation into the massacre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Gogot party has been calling for the deployment of \u201cindependent Security forces\u201d <\/a>to the region, for many years now, to end recurring attacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2020, borkena reported , citing sources from the area, that initially the conflict manifested as an ethnic conflict between the Guraghe and Mareqo<\/a> over the ownership of nine kebeles in the area. However , it seems that there is more to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Armed groups operating in the area \u2013 whose identities are unspecified clearly \u2013 have been linked to massacres and killings in the district. <\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n There were times when the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has been linked to the recurring killings in the area, as was the case with administrative boundary areas that Oromia region shares in the south, south east and north Ethiopia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, a new report is emerging from citizen journalists on social media that killings targeting Orthodox Christians continued in Arsi, Oromia region. Two Orthodox Christians were killed in Arsi Sherka district Birbona and Choke Kebele.
