Addis Ababa, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopian Airlines won 2019 Best Cargo Airline-Africa Awards, a highly respected recognition in the air commercial industry, the company’s Managing Director, Tewolde Gebremariam, said on Monday.
The award is a testimony to the leading role we play for the socioeconomic development in Africa and the rest of the world effectively and safely, Gebremariam said during a public address.
Ethiopian Airlines, winner of other awards, has the largest cargo terminal in the African continent, with a capacity of around one million tons per year and offers services in 44 international destinations.
According to the manager, cargo and logistics services have a rapid growth dynamic and, if that trend continues, the company can improve by 2025 its lifting capacity to 820,000 tons and increase revenues to 2 billion dollars annually.
Ethiopian Airlines administration also expects over the coming six years to increase to 60 destinations where it will handle goods and 19 the number of freighters suitable for an excellent service.
