- The Ethiopian People`s Revolutionary Party (EPRP) is the pioneer or the first modern political party in the Ethiopian history and socio- political culture
- Born in clandestine, in 1972 Eu.C
- Officially declared its Political program and its existence to the public in 1975 EU.C
- It is the first political party that inculcated for multi-political party idyllic/model in our country
- It laid the foundation for all political parties/political organizations, human, civil and religious etc,(rights) activism in our homeland and in the diasporas. It`s opponents would deny it, but history will proof it
- Its constituents /members are from all nationalities/ethnics of Ethiopia
- From 1978 -1991 EU.C EPRP conducted guerrilla combat with TPLF and Mengistu forces
- EPRP made a protracted endeavor to uproot Mengistu`s tyrannical system, TPLF`S narrow/ultra-right nationalism and anti-Ethiopianism stand .
- EPRP has had gallant/fearless stand on Ethiopia`s soverighnity,its people interests, values or on its nation`s collective wellbeing’s. Never negotiated for the sake of its short term political maneuver or capitulation
- It did a ceaseless toil/effort for Ethiopia to have a democratic political system
– Has had been striving for Citizens –political, Civil, Human and Religious <Rights>
-Stood and Standing for freedom of opinion/expression, peaceful assembly, the exercise of public life etc
-Fought and fighting for a democratic electoral Commission and one man one vote principle – through secret ballot system
– had advocated and advocating for the rule of law and an independent judicial system
-Addressed and still addressing for the equal treatment and respect of all nationalities/ethnics –social culture, tradition and language identities –
-Requested and requesting for the distribution of land for the landless peasants
-EPRP was and is proponent for better living conditions of [destitute] : office,factory and industrial workers, solders, teachers, etc.
-EPRP firmly spoke and speaking for the provision of fair and democratic social services for the needy : such as <basic> food, education, health, housing, sanitation, transport etc
For his extreme power ambition and to repress/suppress those demands – Mengistu H/M led fascist Derg recruited 23,000 cadres and unleashed them against those social libertarians [warriors for social justice and democratic principles]. If you would supplant,this figure has been mentioned by P.M Abiye ,while he was inducting his ministers. He said that they are in the Diaspora, it means that they are with us and among us. As P.M Abiye had been working with the Ethiopian National Intelligent Security Service (ENISS),he got their file.
Over 300,000 most Enlightened and Liberated, heroes and heroines citizens of that generation were (tortured, butchered, mutiliated,burnned and slaughtered by those human beasts with the consent and the approval of pig head Mengistu H/Mariam.
The above are not fictional narration, tell tale, fetishism etc. , it`s real,objective,factual etc..So, dying for what their nation needs or sacrificing for these values make serious mistakes doer; what deed would contrive serious ‘Rights’.
That time I addressed it, a little bit differently. A little after I posted the above illustration in Zerma forum called ‘Gefore’ meaning ‘Adebabaye’ I promptly got an eye –popping or overwhelming positive responses.
Tone : To Comrades and friends of EPRP,let`s not be reluctant lazy, indifferent, laissez faire etc., to tell and explain about the history of those selfless martyrs and the endurable legacy of EPRP. We must get up to reveal and erect our proud history to the contemporary Ethiopian generation –via all forms of media and medium. Even though, we are one of those stakeholders – for the current our country`s political, economic, social etc. problems challenges, we got the unique opportunity to unearth who we are and what EPRP is to the bulk of our people. What I mean is, we got free public forum and public life unlike our previous political culture.
What a golden opportunity! To come close to our beloved nation, to be with them and among them etc.. what a golden gateway! To tell why we were away from them, to tell how much we adore/love them, to tell why their: fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers uncles, untees etc. , were tortured,kild, slaughtered, to tell why they were negatively portrayed.
Seeing EPRP be able to come back to its homeland , reliving with and among its nation, assisting for the making of a democratic nation, exercising its political and communitarian ideals and objectives openly with no fear , seems the dream come true. I felt and I do feel as those comrades, who gave their precious lives for their nation`s collective good under the umbrella of EPRP got resurrected.
