Two Scandinavian media development organisations, Fojo Media Institute (Fojo) and International Media Support (IMS) and are jointly embarking on a new phase of a four-year media development programme that aims to support the media reform in Ethiopia.

Fojo Media Institute is part of the Swedish Linnaeus University, with a mission to  strengthen free, independent and professional journalism, in Sweden and globally. For more than 45 years of continuous operation, we have strengthened our partner organisations’ institutional capacity and trained more than 50 000 journalists from more than 100 countries. Jointly with our partners and individual journalists we have engaged in a wide range of issues related to journalism and democracy, such as media convergence, business management, investigative reporting, fact checking, access to information and managing threats and hate speech.

International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit organisation working to support media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. Across four continents, IMS helps to strengthen professional journalism and ensure that media can operate in challenging circumstances.

The programme addresses the challenges of the Ethiopian media sector within two focus areas:

The programme will work in close cooperation with Ethiopian partners, building on and strengthening their resilience, sustainability, knowledge and expertise.

The position is a full-time position based in Addis Ababa jointly with local staff and supported by staff in Sweden and Denmark.
