Ethiopia Confirms Reports Of Rape In Tigray War
ትግራይ ውስጥ አስገድዶ መድፈር መፈጸሙን የሚመለከተው የተመድ ዘገባ በመንግሥት ሚኒስትር መረጋገጡን አዣንስ ፍራንስ ፕረስ ዘገበ።
ዘገባው የሴቶች፣ ሕጻናትና ወጣቶች ሚኒስትር ፊልሳን አብዱላሂ መሐመድ በይፋዊ ትዊተራቸው የመንግሥት ግብረ ኃይል «አስገድዶ መድፈር ያለጥርጥር መፈጸሙን አረጋግጧል» ማለታቸውን ጠቅሷል።
ሚንስትሯ፣ ሕግ አስከባሪዎች የተጎጂዎችን መረጃ እያሰባሰቡ መሆኑን በማመልከትም የድርጊቱ ፈጻሚዎች ለፍርድ ይቀርባሉ የሚል ተስፋቸውን አመልክቷል። እንዲያም ሆኖ ድርጊቱ በየትኛው ኃይል ተፈጸመ የሚለውን ሚኒስትሯ በመልእክታቸው አላነሱም።
ወይዘሮ ፊልሳን አክለውም የተጎዱትን ለመርዳትም የአእምሮ፣ የስነልቦና እና ማኅበራዊ ድጋፍ ቡድን ትግራይ ውስጥ ማቋቋማቸውን አስታውቀዋል። የኢትዮጵያ መንግሥት በትግራይ ክልል ሥልጣን ላይ በነበረው ህወሀት ላይ «ሕግ ማስከበር ያለውን» ዉጊያ ከከፈተ ዛሬ 100ኛ ቀኑ መሆኑንም ዘገባው አስታውሷል።

As the Taskforce included a team from the Attorney General’s office, which are currently processing the data in terms of numbers, we await the investigation of these horrible crimes and hopefully see when the perpetrators are brought to justice. #Ethiopia 2/6

Rape has “without a doubt” taken place during the conflict in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, a government minister said, corroborating eyewitness reports and warnings from the UN. The statement Thursday night from women’s minister Filsan Abdullahi Ahmed marks the first official acknowledgement of crimes activists fear have been widespread.

Please note the following when quoting the minster of women, children and youth of Ethiopia. It was her that dismissed it as a rumor even when provided with video testimony of a victim and a military personal confirmed it on state media.
A government taskforce “unfortunately established rape has taken place conclusively and without a doubt,” Filsan said on Twitter. Law enforcement officials “are currently processing the data in terms of numbers,” she said, expressing hope that perpetrators will be “brought to justice”. Filsan did not say which forces were responsible for rapes documented by the government taskforce.
