The International Development Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on the humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.

Witnesses

Thursday 18 March

At 2.45pm

At 3.30pm

Purpose of the session

The humanitarian situation in Ethiopia is worsening: on top of conflict in the Tigray region, locust swarms are ravaging farmers’ fields and covid-19 is having a significant impact on health services. Access is restricted to the region for aid workers.

During this one-off evidence session, the Committee will explore the situation on the ground from those in-country and the logistical experiences the aid sector is facing, and from the Government on the UK’s response to the crisis.
