ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – Although there are more than 600,000 war-affected citizens who are in need of relief aid in the Afar Region, only 200,000 have received the support, sources said.
Director of Early Warning and Response of the Disaster Risk Management Commission, Mahe Ali, told Ahadu 94.3 Radio that only about 200,000 of the over 600,000 citizens who have been displaced from their areas have received relief aid.
Mahe, who recalled that following the disruption of relief aid supply that was coming from the World Food Organization in the past, citizens were exposed to great problems and have not received any assistance over the last six months.
Mahe emphasized that the process of providing support should be intensified considering the ever deteriorating problems many citizens have faced in Afar Region.
