Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1

• All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.

International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Article 1 (1) and 5

• “Racial discrimination” shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.
• States Parties undertake to prohibit and to eliminate racial discrimination in all its forms and to guarantee the right of everyone, without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin, to equality before the law.

ሁሉም የሰው ልጆች እኩል ክብርና መብቶች ይዘው ነጻ ሆነው ተፈጥረዋል

ዓለም አቀፍ የሰብአዊ መብቶች መግለጫ፣ አንቀጽ 1

• ሁሉም የሰው ልጆች እኩል ክብርና መብቶች ይዘው ነጻ ሆነው ተፈጥረዋል።

ሁሉንም ዐይነት አድሎአዊ የዘር ልዩነቶች ለማስወገድ የተደረገ ዓለም አቀፍ ስምምነት፣ አንቀጽ 1 (1) እና 5

• “አድሎአዊ የዘር ልዩነት” ማለት በፖለቲካ፣ በኢኮኖሚ፣ በማኅበራዊ፣ በባህላዊ ወይም በሌላ በማንኛውም ሕዝባዊ የሕይወት መስክ የሰብአዊ መብቶችን እና የመሠረታዊ ነጻነቶችን እኩል ዕውቅና፣ ተጠቃሚነት ወይም ትግበራ ዋጋ የማሳጣት ወይም የመጉዳት ዐላማ ወይም ውጤት ያለው በዘር፣ በቀለም፣ በትውልድ ወይም በብሔር ወይም በዘር ሐረግ ላይ የተመሠረተ ልዩነት ማድረግ፣ ማግለል፣ መገደብ ወይም ማበላለጥ ነው።
• አባል ሀገራት ሁሉንም ዐይነት የዘር አድልዎ የመከልከል እና የማስወገድ እንዲሁም ማንኛውም ሰው በዘር፣ በቀለም፣ በብሔር ወይም በዘር ሐረግ ልዩነት ሳይደረግበት በሕግ ፊት እኩል የመሆን መብቱን የማረጋገጥ ግዴታ አለባቸው።
