Toronto – Colonel Yared Kiros, a senior Ethiopian Defense Force Commander, has reportedly escaped from Fano Forces in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Asres Mare, political head of Fano forces in Gojjam, has disclosed it this week. According to the information he shared, Yared escaped on Monday December 23 during night time.
It is also revealed that Yared was one of the survivors from a recent Defense Force drone strike in the area where captured government forces were detained.
Fano Asres also said the circumstances under which the colonel managed to escape is unspecified.
It appears that he managed to escape with an arrangement from certain Fano officials who were in charge of the area where Yared and other captured government soldiers were kept.
“Members who were suspected of involvement in such improper acts are under investigation,” Asres revealed. Until December 27, 12 Fano members who are linked to the Colonel’s escape are detained, Asres added.
It is said that the findings from the investigation will be announced to the public.
Colonel Yared Kiros was captured in a battle between Fano forces and Ethiopian Defense Force in October this year in Gojjam area of the Amhara region.
