The Ministry of Health of Israel Says that three cases of cholera have been identified in Israel for the rest of several years.

The ministry said that while two cases involve Israelis who contracted the disease in Ethiopia, the third case is an Israeli who contracted the disease after drinking water from a well in Ethiopia brought back by one of the other infected people, according to the Kan public broadcaster.

The report, however, failed to mention which areas of Ethiopia those allegedly got the cholera contracted travelled to despite the fact that reports have so far stated that cholera has broken out in Jawie District, Awi Zone, Qwara District, in the West Gondar Zone of the Amhara region, and in the south of the Gambella region.

The cholera germ is found mostly in faeces and the ministry alleges that it is “common in developing countries where hygiene and sanitation are poor.”

The Israeli Health Ministry advises travelers to Ethiopia to avoid drinking tap water and eating street food.

Cholera causes diarrhea and vomiting and can lead to dehydration and even death. To help prevent cholera, it is recommended to wash hands thoroughly and maintain good hygiene.

The Ethiopian government or the Ethiopian Ministry of Health hasn’t officially responded to this allegation.
