Addis Ababa – The Fano forces on Sunday announced unity of all forces under a single command. It did not come as a surprise to many as the organization has been recently informing the public that the task of knitting all Fano forces together was finalized.  

A covenant is reportedly signed. According to the latest release, the united Fano forces aim to achieve the mission of internal capacity building task in the context of  a pan-Ethiopian Democratic Union, ensuring the “existence” of the people and defending the rights and privileges. 

It aims a democratic Ethiopia where “Ethiopian’s individual and group rights are observed” while building justice and peaceful coexistence. 

Sources report that “intensive researches and political discussions” were undertaken as part of the effort to unite the Fano forces.

Prominent Fano forces have ratified and signed the covenant of the organization with unanimity. 

Zemene Kassie, who has been leading Fano Forces in Gojjam, is named as chairperson of the Amhara Fano National Movement (AFNM)

Meketaw Mamo of Shewa is named first vice-chairperson. 

Habte Wolde of Gondar is in charge of military affairs with the vice-chairperson title. Hamle Adane is another deputy chairperson with a political affairs portfolio. 

Fifteen other prominent Fano leaders are appointed to various positions including Brigadier General Tefera mamo who is named as a military commander with Mere Wodajo as his deputy. 

Also, Zenabu Lengerew of Gojjam is serving in the same role with a focus on Administrative issues. 

Samuel Baleadera is in charge of Military training. 

Asrese Mare is heading the public relation department of  Amhara Fano National Movement.

Geta Asrade, Dirset Birhane, Baye Alebachew, Mintesnot Wondaferew, Aschalew Belete, Eskinder Nega, Abebe Fantaw, Ashagrie Baye, Biruk Abebe, and  Zemene Mehretu are among figures named to different roles in the Organization.
