After Fano forces in the Amhara region united and organized under one organization and leadership, Abiy Ahmed Ali and his group appeared to enter a state of panic within just a few days. They seem extremely paranoid and are trying to make what appear to be the last moves in their political strategy. On one hand, the geopolitics around the Horn of Africa is beyond his control and have become more complex. The UAE is losing its influence in Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen to Saudi Arabia. This means Abiy Ahmed is on the weaker side of this proxy conflict between the two powers. The United States appears to be backing Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia wants the UAE to step back, as the UAE has been trying to expand its influence gradually from the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea and beyond. It has been reported that Saudi Arabia, through its foreign minister, has asked Abiy Ahmed to stop what he is doing in Sudan.
On the front of home, his soldiers are reportedly losing every ambush by Amhara Fano forces on a daily basis, with significant casualties. Furthermore, Abiy and his group are becoming increasingly anxious, as the possibility that TPLF forces and Fano forces could march toward Addis Ababa together is beyond their capacity to handle. As a result, they are attempting to play several strategic cards available to them. Let us mention two of the main ones and add one more as a tip.
1.THE WELKAIT CARD – to set up Conflict between Amhara and Tigray Forces
He is trying to create conflict between Amhara forces and Tigray forces in Welkait, Tselemti, and Raya. It is difficult to understand how a Nobel Peace Prize winner can continuously create narratives that push brothers to fight each other within the same country. He travels to Welega and many parts of Oromia, recruiting new militia members and sending them out with specific missions meant to create unrest, conflict, disorder, and division among the population. He has also contributed to the events that led to the disastrous 21st‑century conflict by misleading people and drawing them into war: Amhara forces against Tigray forces, and Eritrean forces against Tigray forces. At that time, many people trusted him; they did not yet fully understand his actions. Millions lost their lives within just two years.
This week, he attempted to reignite conflict between Fano forces and TPLF members. However, both sides recognized his strategy. As the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” His election board recently referred to Welkait as Western Tigray after many months. Why now? It appears to be another attempt to play the same political card. Everyone knows that Welkait is one of the issues he tries to use strategically, without realizing that this approach has become ineffective. He assumes that whatever he says or does goes unnoticed. For many Ethiopians, he is like the proverbial king who walks out in public unaware of how he is perceived, regardless of the image he tries to project. For most Ethiopians, he is the naked king who goes out and every day with disgrace and shame, even if he tries to look otherwise.
2. BADME CARD – to set up Conflict between Tigray people and Eritrean Force
Badme symbolizes the border conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea. This has been a particularly serious issue between the Tigray forces and the Eritrean government. Since the conflict over Badme began, relations between Eritrea and the Tigray forces have remained strained. After twenty years, when Abiy Ahmed went to war against TPLF forces in Tigray, he invited Eritrean forces to enter Tigray and fight alongside him, not once, not twice, but three times. During that extremely difficult period, many atrocities were committed against civilians by various parties. Abiy Ahmed is aware of what happened during the first round of the war, when TPLF forces were defeated within only three weeks. After eight months, when the second round of fighting broke out, he again knew what occurred in Tigray, both by his own forces and by Eritrean forces, whom he had invited. Toward the end of the second year, both forces encircled Mekelle before the international community pressured the parties to halt hostilities and enter negotiations in Pretoria.
Even at that time, he knew what had transpired in Tigray, but he kept quiet and hid it, knowing that he was the one who had invited a foreign force into his own country. He then told his symbolic parliament members that he was grateful for what the Eritrean forces had done in Tigray. He said:

Translation:
“If we had not reconciled with Eritrea this year, it is difficult to imagine what might have happened. Our reconciliation is not between individuals; it is a reconciliation between peoples. Beyond the Eritrean government, it is the Eritrean people who have demonstrated this in practice. We are deeply grateful to the people and the government of Eritrea.” He was grateful for that “practice”. This was then. What did he say today, in the same parliament? We do not know how he regards these parliament members. They are the same people to whom he once expressed his gratitude with a victorious spirit and happiness when he said,
“… We are deeply grateful to the people and the government of Eritrea.”
On this day (03.02.26), he literally said the following:

Translation:
“Some people say that the problem between Ethiopia and Eritrea arose because Ethiopia raised the issue of access to the sea; however, that is not the case. The conflict did not begin when the Red Sea issue was raised, as many believe. When the war in Tigray began, after we liberated Shire in the first round of fighting, Eritrean troops followed from behind and entered Shire, where they began demolishing private homes and buildings. That was when the conflict started, even though we did not speak about it. As we passed through Axum, when Eritrean forces entered Axum and carried out mass killings of youth, the conflict intensified. When we passed through Adwa, as factories in Adwa were looted and dismantled, the conflict escalated further. When we reached Adigrat, as the pharmaceutical factory was stripped of what could be removed and what could not be removed was destroyed, the conflict reached its peak…”
What a shameless person! How come he comes out and opens his mouth, showing how idiot he is, one may think. Yes, he is an idiot. What can we expect from a seventh grader who only knew shortcuts to hustle until he got his theory degree? Rather, in his mind, he is trying to take out the second main card he has in his hand: the conflict between Tigray and Eritrea. He literally named cities that are not aligned with him right now: Shire, Adwa, Aksum. He is trying to divide the Tigray people by relying on the disgraced Getachew Reda and Tsadikan G/Tensay, who are both from southern Tigray, and they have no fans in Shire, Adwa, or Aksum. So Abiy is trying to remind them of their agony and push them to seek revenge on Eritrea with him. He has been begging them for months.
Kudos to the Tigray forces and people — they rejected his agenda, except for a few wicked souls who sold their lives for luxury, including vodka and women.
NO ONE IS FOOLISH AGAIN!
This wicked man has tried again and again to incite violence between brothers and brothers, and between people and people. Even today, in parliament, he was trying to strengthen his position that the Amhara and Tigray forces should not unite against him. Translated: “While we were guarding the TPLF so that it would not be looted by Eritrean soldiers, what the TPLF did when it entered the Amhara region is shameful. It destroyed factories, burned schools, and looted banks.” He forgot that, according to firsthand testimony from one of his former ministers, Dr. Milkesa, Abiy told 2,500 OPDO members that they were deliberately dragging TPLF forces into the Amhara region so that they could destroy the forces there. He also forgot that he was the one who angered the Tigray people, who were disappointed and discouraged. He knew they were coming for revenge, yet he allowed it to happen. Now he puts the blame on others and reminds them that they are enemies who should never collaborate.
He thrives by setting people against each other. He did it in Welllega, he did it everywhere in Oromia, he did it in Tigray, and he did it in the Amhara region. He has been killing in Amhara with drones for three consecutive years, since his military forces are incapable of withstanding the people’s movement and resistance. The spirit of Fano, which calls for freedom and justice, is interwoven with human nature. It cannot be tranquilized with drones or with any force. Humans have an extraordinary capacity to withstand injustice and to fight for a rightful cause even in the most difficult situations. Amhara forces are fighting a just cause for their existence. This man, who does not understand things in depth, is playing with fire. Now he is in trouble. Only a few days, maybe a few months, and it will be over for him.
You are already in disguise in the eyes of God. Even though your prophets deceive you like the prophets of Baal, your life and your character have shown the Ethiopian people that you are continually drawn to bloodshed. You seem excited to create conflict between people. What comes out of your mouth is a recipe for disaster, pushing people against other people. The deceptive force within you appears to be opposed to the Kingdom of Light. You received a Nobel Peace Prize, which you could have used as a guiding legacy for the rest of your life, yet you work daily toward conflict and war. Just as evil can disguise itself as an angel of light, you present your actions in Addis Ababa as something great and worthy of your name. You seem unaware that Nebuchadnezzar once boasted about the greatness of Babylon, and he fell. Now is the time for you to fall as well. No one will be fooled again.
Your two strategies will not work against the people of Amhara, Tigray, or Eritrea. And they will not work against the people of Oromia either. You and your group will soon face judgment. Be ready. Ethiopians, Eritreans, and all the people in the Horn of Africa should come together to stop you before your actions destroy them further. Peace be between the people of the HORN!
