Toronto – Ethiopia Federal Police has reportedly arrested CEO of Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise, Ato Esmelealem Mihretu.

His arrest is said to be related to the oil procurement process and management of local oil supply storage, according to local news sources.

However, Ethiopian Federal police did not make a public announcement to the public. No information is provided as to where he is arrested.

According to sources,  Esmelealem Mihretu was in his office on Monday when Federal Police members arrived and conducted a  search.

It is unclear why exactly the CEO is in custody and why police did not want to make it public. Borkena will update readers as more information becomes available.

In a related development, on Tuesday the Ministry of Finance announced a stern message on the price hike of oil products. The ministry said it will take measures including confiscation against those who are selling oil at a price set by the government.
