The National Guard repelled multiple attacks while intercepts suggest russia is preparing foreign reinforcements

Ukraine’s National Guard forces from the Rubizh 4th Brigade report intensifying pressure on russian troops in their sector, as a series of failed assaults and mounting losses signal growing difficulties for russian forces. According to the brigade, intercepted communications suggest that russia may be preparing to deploy foreign mercenaries from Ethiopia and Morocco to reinforce its positions.

The update, released on March 18 via the brigade’s official channel, highlights the scale of recent fighting. Over the past 24 hours alone, russian forces conducted nine assault attempts, all of which were repelled. Ukrainian defenders maintained control of their positions, preventing any breakthroughs despite repeated attacks.

Russian troops reportedly relied on light, fast-moving vehicles such as quad bikes and motorcycles in an attempt to rapidly close the distance and overwhelm Ukrainian defenses. A total of 11 such vehicles were committed to the assaults, but all were destroyed through coordinated action by the Rubizh brigade and adjacent units.

Casualties among russian personnel continue to accumulate. The brigade reported that 14 enemy soldiers were killed and four wounded in a single day, with total losses in the area reaching the equivalent of an infantry platoon. These figures point to a sustained attritional pattern, with russian forces paying a high price for unsuccessful offensive actions.

Intercepted radio traffic provides additional insight into the enemy’s situation. Ukrainian troops report frequent mentions of potential reinforcements in the form of foreign fighters, described as a “last reserve” for continued assault operations. This suggests that available manpower in the sector may be under strain.

The brigade also described a deteriorating situation for russian troops trapped near one of the settlements in the area. Up to a dozen marines and special forces personnel are reportedly cut off, many of them wounded. Evacuation attempts have failed, and efforts to deliver medical supplies have proven extremely risky under constant Ukrainian fire.

In one example, russian forces reportedly dispatched a motorcyclist on a high-risk mission to deliver medical supplies directly to the isolated group. The courier became disoriented under fire, moving erratically before ultimately being eliminated along with the supplies he was carrying.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces report signs of misinformation within russian ranks. In the town of Bilytske, commanders are allegedly being told that full assault groups are present, while in reality only small, disorganized clusters of troops remain, showing little to no combat activity. Such discrepancies may further complicate кussian command and control as pressure on the front continues to grow.
