Ethiopia _ Ethiopian Politics _ Jawar Mohammed

Reports emerging from the northern front paint a starkly different picture than what is publicly propagated by figures like Jawar Mohammed.  A substantial portion of the forces previously deployed in the northern campaigns, have reportedly disengaged and returned to Amhara war front, where many were reportedly fighting in the recent engagements in Southern Gondar and Wollo, many surrendering or being captured en masse upon their re-engagement in above mentioned conflicts.

Intriguingly, amidst troop movement developments, Jawar Mohammed, a figure frequently associated with Oromummaa political speculations, or possibly covert alignment with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration, has reportedly started giving a proffer counsel. This perceived shift in engagement raises eyebrows, especially given a public perception among some, suggesting that Jawar Mohammed‘s political aspiration has often been guided by pragmatic considerations of personal advancement and the pursuit of power.

In his recent commentary, he suggests that if the government brings back all the troops from the north front to the Amhara region, it could quash the armed groups.  It is in this context that his pronouncement — that the authentic struggle of a people can be quashed by sheer military numerical superiority or brute force — resonates profoundly. While his statement holds universal truth in some instances, its application and interpretation become complex when juxtaposed with the evolving political landscape and the actions of those who articulate such principles.

Cruelty, Instead of Quashing Dissent, Serves as a Potent Catalysis For Commitment to More Struggle

Tyrannical systems, by their inherent design, invariably cultivate the very conditions that lead to their ultimate undoing. The persistent suppression of fundamental human rights and the relentless imposition of injustice serve only to ignite a profound public awakening. As this consciousness deepens, so too does the fervent yearning for genuine freedom, catalyzing a powerful movement where people actively organize and prepare themselves to challenge the oppressive rule.

Across Ethiopia, a momentous campaign of resistance is unfolding, dedicated to repelling the manifold abuses perpetrated by the reigning authority. For three arduous years, this regime has deployed its full coercive apparatus, unleashing brutal, widespread suppression against the Amhara people.

However, in a profound irony, every escalation and display of cruelty has, instead of quashing dissent, served as a potent catalyst, swelling the ranks of those committed to the struggle. The movement has grown exponentially, not merely in numbers, but in its strategic capacity: Fano has effectively armed itself by reclaiming resources, meticulously building its human capital, enhancing its military readiness, and redefining its tactical acumen through invaluable, hard-won experience. Its formidable force continues to gather strength, becoming increasingly resilient and resolute with each passing day.

A Vast Segment of the Populace is Reportedly Mobilized to Provide Comprehensive Support and Fight

As Jawar Mohammed indicated in his statement, a discernible shift within certain internal structures, where even individuals purportedly associated with the Prosperity Party are extending various forms of assistance to the Fano movement. This development coincides with widespread public outrage stemming from observed and documented instances of alleged atrocities, including mass civilian casualties and extensive property destruction attributed to the deployment of drone technology and heavy artillery.

Such events are said to be the primary catalyst, compelling a growing number of citizens to actively align with, and support Fano. Beyond direct participation, a vast segment of the populace is reportedly mobilizing to provide comprehensive support. These multifaceted assistance include significant financial contributions, intellectual and strategic guidance, informal diplomatic outreach, intelligence gathering, and coordinated public awareness and information campaigns.

Conclusion:

The pursuit of justice and liberty, whether by the Amhara people or any other community in Ethiopia, is an enduring flame that the military might not extinguish. History reveals that attempts to suppress freedom only ignite a deeper resolve. When people endure hardship and oppression, their spirit is not broken, but fortified. Unity strengthens, determination sharpens, and the demand for rights becomes an unyielding force. The aspiration for emancipation, far from fading, will persist and grow with compelling urgency.
