Toronto – Eritrean and Tigray military generals reportedly met in Mekelle, North Ethiopia, according local sources which cited African Intelligence Report
According to the source, General Eyob Fissehaye (from Eritrea) and General Fesseha Kidanu from TPLF met in Mekelle this week.
It is reported that there was a difference between the two sides in their assessment of the Ethiopian Defense Force.
No further information was disclosed although the source claimed to have sources from the region who are familiar with the matter. The Eritrean government or TPLF forces did not remark on the report.
Tension has been growing in the region as the two sides, one more time in the form of political and military allies, are expected to go to war against Abiy Ahmed’s government.
In his recent interview in Tigrigna language, Abiy Ahmed accused the TPLF of preparing for war.
As well, the Ministry of Foreign of Ethiopia has been accusing Eritrea of supporting the TPLF and rebel groups operating in the country which Eritrea has been denying.
Notably, recently The Economist a few months ago reported that the TPLF, OLA , Eritrean officials andFano forces, who have been battling Ethiopian Defense Force and regional security forces in the Amhara region, met in Sudan.
