Mingyang leads Ethiopia investment forum with USD-10bn pledge

More than USD 13 billion (EUR 11.3bn) in investment deals were signed at the recent Invest in Ethiopia 2026 Forum, including plans by Ming Yang Smart Energy Group Ltd (SHA:601615) to invest over USD 10 billion.

The Chinese wind turbine maker intends to invest in renewable energy, hydrogen and green ammonia production projects, the Ethiopian Investment Commission said.
This was the largest of seven agreements concluded at the forum, which also include an additional USD 150 million investment by Gobez Electric Manufacturing Plc to expand its solar cell manufacturing capacity and off-grid solar energy specialist Sun King’s plan to spend USD 150 million by 2030.
The Ethiopian Investment Commission said separately that Mingyang will receive its investment license within the next few weeks and added that it will continue to provide monitoring and support until the agreement is implemented and becomes effective.
