Women in Ethiopia’s Tigray region continue to face profound challenges in the aftermath of the devastating 2020–2022 conflict, which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and was marked by widespread conflict-related sexual violence. For many, recovery is still out of reach.
Now, as tensions rise and the risk of renewed war grows, women and girls in Tigray stand on the brink of yet another crisis. At the same time, sweeping cuts to humanitarian aid are choking off access to essential services, including healthcare, education, and livelihoods, leaving women with fewer resources to heal, rebuild, or prepare for what may come next.
Please join Refugees International, ECDC, Harambee Collective, and Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security for a timely discussion on the current realities facing displaced women in Tigray. Together, we will examine what must be done to support women’s recovery, resilience, and preparedness in the face of a new wave of violence.
