A Yemeni delegation specializing in coffee development has reviewed Ethiopia’s experience in agricultural practices, post-harvest handling, and export preparation during a field mission to the Ethiopia, organized by the Dorcas from April 15 to 29.

The visit aimed to strengthen the technical capacity of institutions involved in coffee cultivation, processing, and marketing, while introducing modern, climate-smart agricultural practices.

During the tour, the delegation examined quality control systems, coffee grading and cupping processes, as well as the role of nurseries and advanced laboratories in improving crop quality.

This included techniques such as tissue culture propagation and selective breeding to develop high-yield, climate-resilient varieties of Arabica coffee.

The delegation also met with Yemen’s Chargé d’Affaires in Addis Ababa, Abdulqader Mohammed, to review the mission’s outcomes and discuss ongoing research efforts to hybridize and enhance Arabica coffee, including the potential development of varieties suitable for lowland cultivation.
