LONDON (Alliance News) – KEFI Minerals PLC said Wednesday it has finalised a community resettlement plan with the government of Ethiopia in order to allow construction to begin at its Tulu Kapi gold project.
KEFI said resettlement arrangements for the local community have been triggered, with upcoming tasks including property survey and data updates, plus new site preparations.
KEFI said it is aiming to begin construction of its project in the second half of 2017.
Shares in KEFI Minerals were up 23% at 5.84 pence Wednesday.
“KEFI and the government at all levels, have worked diligently with the local community to ensure that they are supported and compensated appropriately throughout the resettlement process,” said Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, executive chairman.
“With this vital step now taken, we look forward to progressing with the final steps ahead before commencing construction,” added the chairman.
