Tekletsion Kassahun from Ethiopia has won the 42 km Nelson Mandela.

Mamorallo Tsoka from Lesotho has won the 42km female race.

The 2017 Nelson Mandela Marathon started at Imbali Township, Pietermaritzburg, in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

 

More than 15 000 runners have braved the cold temperatures to participate in the 42.2 kilometre long marathon whose route traces the footsteps of the legendary icon.

It started at the site where Mandela held a meeting, and ends in Howick, which was were Mandela was captured.
