Anti-government protests took place across Ethiopia’s Oromia region during 15–22 October, with both state-affiliated and commercial road vehicles being burned by demonstrators and civilian fatalities being inflicted by security forces.

Calls for protests on Oromo social media cited recent violence in eastern Oromia, blamed on the central and Somali regional governments. Ethiopian media reported that, in Oromia’s North Shewa and Ilubabor zones (in central and western Oromia, respectively), ethnic Oromos, Amharas, and Tigrayans were mutually targeted, as well as their property, in inter-communal violence.
