Addis Ababa, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia and Sudan are strengthening ties today in the civil aviation industry, with the beginning of new flight services by Badr Airlines, based in Khartoum.
According to information issued by the national press, the opening of the route also aims to strengthen bilateral ties in the commercial and investment sector.
The Ethiopian Herald newspaper reported on the statements made by Mohamed Abbas Alrazm, the company’s commercial manager, who noted that ‘more Sudanese investors and merchants will come to Ethiopia.’
In turn, he pointed out that direct flights will promote tourism and cultural socialization among the citizens of both countries.
Badr Airlines will operate a twice-weekly direct flight between Khartoum and Addis Ababa with a B737 aircraft since Sudan Airways (SA), which have been flying for decades, suspended its operation last year due to financial problems. According to reports, SA has been traversing through a turbulent time after the country was placed on a U.S. sanction list in 2006.
Due to this, the company found it difficult to buy new aircraft, spare parts and all the other services that are required to operate an airline.
