OLF abandon its armed struggle and heading to Addis Ababa

Glory to those who paid ultimate price in their life, the struggle of the Oromo people has transformed the political landscape of Ethiopia and managed to usher an era of positive change, political, social, and economic reforms, and a path for democratic governance. It is incumbent up on us to use every tool at our disposal to protect the change that is taking place and put tremendous effort into seeing to it that truly democratic system of governance will take root in Ethiopia in general and specifically in Oromia. It is our hope and our aspiration to ensure that a truly representative form of government that takes into account and represents the will and hopes of the Ethiopian peoples’ will be established for the first time in the history of the Country.

As such, at this critical juncture in Ethiopian politics, it is unequivocal stance of our Front to stand with our people and help ensure that this extraordinary turn of events and promising political reforms will not be reversed.

As we have previously noted, the extra ordinary changes that have swept Ethiopia were brought about by immeasurable scarifies paid by the brave sons and daughters of the Oromia nation especially, and Ethiopian peoples in general, for their freedom, justice and sovereignty. To transform the gain has already been achieved into the total transformation of the system; it is our duties as a vanguard organization to see to it that the fruit of our struggle would not be jeopardized by reactionary forces.

To this end, our organization has vowed to do its part to rid the country of the brutal, corrupt, and illegitimate minority dictatorship once and for all. We believe that it is the duty of every Oromo political organizations, various opposition political organizations, and the Ethiopian people to work in unison to bring to fruition and maintain a more inclusive, tolerant, and democratic political system.

To that effect, the OLF has been discussing with Ethiopia government for a while, and now has reached on understanding. After careful deliberation, the OLF is sending its delegation led by its top leaders to Ethiopia to conclude the final portion of our dialogue with the Ethiopian government.

We also would like to inform our people, compatriots, inside and outside the country that within coming days, our delegation will be arriving in Finfinnee.

Taking this opportunity, we will call upon all democratic forces inside and outside the country to work together for the creation of true liberty, democracy, peace and justice for all in the country.
