Mystery disease ravages livestock in Afar of Ethiopia

SEMERA, AFAR Ethiopia –

A mystery disease coupled with drought has ravaged the Afar region of Ethiopia that the fields are virtually littered with animal carcasses.

The state-owned media, which harps on an “economic growth” day in day out, has to date uttered no single word on the plight that has decimated the livestock, the main staple of the nomadic Afar people.
