Women’s final 5000m turned out to be Ethiopian affair as all the medals won by Ethiopia in clean sweep. Almaz Ayana put up incredible run to claim gold after finishing the distance first in a time of 14:26:83 – a championship record time.

According to IAAF report, it took only 8:19:91 for Almaz Ayana to cover the final 3000 meters.

Not less interesting in the event is that the race for silver medal was between Ethiopians.Senbere Teferi and Genzebe Dibaba raced for it and Genzebe had to settle for silver this time around.

Genzebe Dibaba already won gold at Beijing 2015 in the 1500 meters.
